Well yep! It says it all!!
I have a job! WOOT! So lets explain:
Tuesday was job hunting day. Visited a few recruitment agencies in Hammersmith (kinda the equiv. of Hornsby) and had a few bites, until I went to one place and had to do all these typing tests, excel and word exams! HA! How the heck do u do a mail merge?! Lol won’t need to know that!
OH NB: If you plan to come here to work make sure you book an appointment to have an interview to get your National Identity (NI) number (interview is in London, but you can call before you leave home – 4 week waiting list), as it’s like sooo important to every employer! Kinda like a tax file number. Also, if you want to work with children, you MUST get a Police Check from the Australian Federal Police before you come over, as it all takes ages to process. Bloody hell, why didn’t someone tell me this before I came over??! If you can get a job organised before you come over, it’s much easier!!
Anyways, it’s approaching 4pm, and I’m at this agency and the woman decides to give me the benefit of the doubt and offers me a job for £11/hr! I’m like GIVE IT TO ME! hahaha Not only that it started the next day!!
So here I am! EMPLOYED! I work as a receptionist/administrator at the Royal Brompton Hospital in poshy South Kensington – there’s a Vera Wang wedding dress shop at the end of the street….mmmmm! HAHAHA! I work in the private inpatients part of the hospital (it’s a public hospital but has a private ward) as an admissions administrator, where we get the patients to their rooms, deal with any issues and make sure they have insurance to cover them. It’s all pretty straight forward, but there’s many things to do all at once. I really like greeting the patients and taking them to their rooms – means it’s not just all paper work.
Plus yesterday we got to go down to the labs/surgery rooms and watch procedures in process!! I felt like Eliot from Scrubs, but not so bambi like ;) Hahaha Didn’t see any JDs around though – bugger! So yeah, we go down to the lab rooms to find out what procedures are private patients are getting so we can tell the insurance company. It was weird seeing people getting operated on. Lane will appreciate this! Lol
There’s a new lady who’s also started with me, so we get along well. The other 3 ladies leave in the next 2 weeks, so the office will become ours! We have to learn fast! But secretly I like updating databases and filing things….I’m such a geek ;) Lol
It’s an ongoing temp job, so it’ll finish when it does….and then Miss Freeman goes back to teaching….at £120/day i’m not complaining!! WOOT!!
Better eat dinner and run. Pubbing 2nite with Spides in Fulham.
Check you all soon! Hope you are all well XXX
Thoughtless!
