October
On many a Fri/Sat/Sun found myself at a Pub - mostly the Walkabout (Aussie Pub) in She Bu with my new found friends (affectionately known as The Nagsters), drinking the brown liquid and trying not to show our disappointment when Australia was kicked out of the Rugby - sigh. But made up for it by going to Wagamamas for dinner, with Dave & Cass, then heading back to my place with DVDs, icecream and sticky date pudding...Mmmmm. We definitely lived up to our Octoberfest standards. Nearly every Friday/Saturday night we were out drinking...no wonder I slept in every weekend!
Next highlight of the month was popping down the road (as you do) to see our gorgeous Aussie boy, none other than Pete Murray!! It was an amazing concert. Pete was just loving the crowd. He kept commenting on how stunned he was at our response. Absolutely went off.
Now that it has become quite cold, we relish any day where the sun is shining! So on one lovely Sunday, Cass, Dave & myself headed to Notting Hill to suss out a pub serving Sunday Roast! And once we found it we were VERY spoilt! It was a very traditional pub, with dark timber and a roaring fireplace. We had beer, lamb & a yorkshire pudding!! Very filling! But twas not enough! So ventured outside and had the BEST crepe ever - smothered with nutella and bananas, literally melts in your mouth. Oh damn, drooling AGAIN...
Cass & Dave have moved out of Fulham & our now living in a great house in North Acton, FULL of aussies! So to celebrate we've had numerous meals, BUT one meal topped it off. We headed to a chain Thai restaurant in Putney called Thai Square. Dave was feeling generous so bought 2 bottles of very good red! Well this did it for us! Cass was hilarious! We decided to do a bit of a pub crawl after dinner, that landed Cass on her ass on the pavement, after trying to kick a box and missing - oh it was a pure classic Kodak moment! Then by pure chance, we walked into this pub which turned out to be a massive old warehouse with a mish-mash of period and retro furniture and lots of twinkling fairy lights - this place was huge! So of course, a beer or two were in order. I spotted a Jesus look alike out of the corner of my eye, and was so freaked at the resemblance, that Cass in her "happy" state went over to the bloke and goes "Hey mate! Can I get a photo of you? You look exactly like my friend's b/f!" He obliged, but when I looked at the photo it was nothing like looking at this guy from a distance (actually looks more like Daniel Johns come to think of it!). Spider's blurry photo proved to be a hit. THIS was definitely a belly-laughing evening. Thanks for the entertainment Cass - definitely the bit where you were ringing the till up, was the best.
Mum turned 60 in October, which was fantastic. Unfortunately, I wasn't there to celebrate it. But I'm sure my spirit was! Did you see any champagne glasses suddenly drain out? Lol
October was the month for Musicals! When you have 30+ theatres in London, every musical that can be performed will be showing! Started off with a great production of Mary Poppins. I was accompanied by my old house mate Kristy and her workmate, Kate. Next it was The Sound of Music with my housemate Fi, which was a fantastic night, that wrapped up in a cute pub next to Carnaby Street, with a large glass of red. Lastly, and by far my favourite, was Les Miserables. It was such a moving performance. If it was a dream (I dreamed a dream in time gone by...), I would have been on stage belting out each tune! Hahaha "Do you hear the people sing? Singing the song of angry men...". Kristy is my musical buddy!!
Thoughtless!
