09 Nov 2007 · I can't feel my fingers & toes anymore, but I pray they're still there!

So here we are at November.

It is bitterly cold now. The heating has to go on every night (night starts around 4.30pm!) and even then it doesn't do justice.

The start of the month is a little blurry due to drinking games at Shannon's place...Hmmm!!  But it picked up after that!

Saturday night was Cracker night (the whole weekend dedicated to Guy Fawkes), where, my Australian comrades, FIRECRACKERS are legal....yes, Luke, you heard right ;). From Friday until Monday She Bu sounded like a war zone! Rockets and firecrackers were going off everywhere!! So of course, Spides, being the 5yr old he is, HAD to be a part of this event.

Headed up to North Acton and had yummy Chinese. Afterwards, Spides couldn't contain his excitement and headed straight for the backyard to setup part of his £100 (!!!!) fireworks display!! Well let me tell you: LEGALLY being allowed to set off fireworks in your own backyard is the most coolest thing! There was EVERY sort you could imagine. My fav was the massive rockets that shot up in the sky and exploded into giant colourful fireworks - I'm talking exactly the same size as professional events. Then lastly, Spides set off...THE MEDUSA!!! A box filled with 120 firecrackers that in sequence shot off....well....you should have seen it. Screw the NYE Sydney fireworks! These were amazing! So high up in the sky they went, colours and shapes that were astonishing! So there's ONE good reason to live in London!

On Sunday, Emma, Shan & I headed towards Greenwich in preparation to be part of a live audience that Emma had won tickets to. We had a yummy-tummy meal at the 02 stadium (previously known as the Millennium Dome) and then made a trek (oh it was a trek - out in the 'burbs!) to a large circus tent where they were filming a LIVE episode of Cirque De Celebrite! Hahaha just think Dancing with the Stars, but in a Big Top Tent & instead of dancing, they're on trapeze swings & silks! Of course, the celebrities were only D grade, except for one guy I recognised from the boyband Five. Lol Consider him B- Grade ;)

I took Wednesday off work to spend some time shopping and well...shopping ;) I leisurely strolled along the main road near where I live, then caught the train to Liverpool St where I wandered through some tiny backstreets, passed cute English pubs, until I ended up at the famous Old Spitfields Markets. Very good quality jewellery and funky clothes. Literally wandered down one street then the next, until I found my way into Petticoat Lane markets, which is more like Paddys Markets! Very tacky, nasty and cheap - I LIKE! Great clothes, jackets, suits...u name it & you have to try and haggle. With the strain & stress of crowds getting to me (I loathe crowds in London...& people who can't figure out you walk on the LEFT side of the footpath! I want my car....), I headed for home...

So what's in store for the rest of the month? Well just today, on the spur of the moment I decided to go to Wales next weekend!...not only that BUT go to Wales and go horseback riding through the mountains!! My nagster buddy Emma said she'd come, so off we go - my first REAL break away, since arriving from Greece in June. I'm so excited!!

And beyond that?? Well you'll just have to wait and see. Who knows what might happen...

Miss all of you so very much. Until you're in a situation where you hardly know anyone around you, you will never understand how important "home", friends and family really are.

Also, please could someone kindly bottle some of those 35 degree days for me, as I really like my toes and fingers & don't want to see the effects of frostbite...

NB - we consume so much alcohol to keep us warm. The term "alcoholic" does not exist in this country...Your Honor...
